The last week has been a little more chilled out than the first few weeks but It’s really exciting to get out of the city and explore what is nearby. On my day off I took a trip to Harbour Town with Molly (neither a harbour nor a town – just an outlet mall) to buy some much needed new clothes – it turns out I didn’t pack very well for any aspect of Adelaide life! This is definitely my new favourite place, only spending $50 and leaving with 2 skirts, 3 tops, 2 blouses and a hat is a sign of a successful shopping trip.

We also took part in the ESN bar crawl, which didn’t exactly go to plan, but nevertheless we had fun and looked absolutely ridiculous in our ESN sweatbands!

The next day us girls (myself, Chloe, Pauline, Lindsay, Kayla, Molly, Ella, Ophelie, Megan and Emilie) took a trip to Haigh’s chocolate factory for a free tour! Haigh’s chocolate originated in Adelaide and the first store is just a few minutes from our accommodation! It was great to taste some fancy chocolate but I’m not sure I’ll ever be buying any whilst I’m studying, its definitely not student friendly prices! Maybe I’ll treat myself when it comes to January! When we eventually made it home (note to self: check bus timetables for the return journey too!) I played table tennis and pool with Jez; we established I need to work on both but we have 4 months so I’m optimistic! I ended the night sat eating ice cream out of the tub with Phoebe; the best $3 I’ve spent so far!

What better way is there to be woken up than by your 4 best friends facetiming you from their sleepover?! It was great to catch up with everyone in one go (my Wi-Fi allowance was also thankful!) but sad when you realise you can’t join in with all their fun and eat the obscene amount of food they bought!

On Sunday I took the train (alone!!) to Port Adelaide to meet Tiz, who’s studying from Penzance but living with her Grandfather who, luckily, lives in Adelaide! His house had the most amazing views and it was lovely to see something other than buildings and concrete for a few hours! We took a bike ride to Semaphore beach and walked along the jetty; it was never ending! After standing in the most ridiculous queue, we bought ice cream and sat by the beach enjoying the sunshine and some heat (finally temperatures above 15C!).

Another Monday and another day off (I promise I am actually studying too!) I took a walk to the Adelaide Botanical Gardens with Tiz and Phoebe, what a beautiful place! You completely forget you’re in the city, it’s so peaceful, calm and huge! Like typical Brits on a 19C day, we laid out in the sun on the grass and soaked up the heat, finally starting to feel like Australia, and not an English summer! Besides, a relaxing day is just what’s needed before another hard 3 day week at university…!
