Studying abroad was something i’d always wanted to do and seeing as i’m useless as foreign languages it was pretty handy that the opportunity to study in Canada came up. I was originally only supposed to be there for the first semester but in the end I decided to stay for the full year as it was unreal.

The best thing about going to Canada was being English. Everyone is just excited to meet you and like you before even meeting you. I made some of the best friends in my life out there and it’s certainly a year i’ll never forget.

The teaching style over there is a lot like going back to school where you have teachers as opposed to lecturers which ain’t the worst thing in the world.

I managed to go to New York, Havana, Toronto, #SnowJam, Stormzy and his first North American gig (shared a bottle of Moet with the geezer) as well as Niagara and a host of other trips. Spring Break was ‘lit’. I got ‘turnt’ on Homecoming and even tried my hand at a bit of modelling. Everything out there is more celebrated in Canada with a lot less cynicism but also a little less maturity. Some of the freshers were 17.

All in all, if it’s possible to go abroad you just have to do it.
