Unlike the majority of my time here in Adelaide, the last few weeks have been pretty calm and boring, filled with revision and spending countless hours sat in my room with my head buried in piles of paper. Finally, I’m free from exams and now in my last week in Adelaide (WHAT?!). Despite the hours of revision, I still made time for some fun things so here is a brief catch up on all the things I’ve been doing to distract myself from work (and give myself an excuse to actually venture outside a few times a week!).
Took a hike (or two) – Myself and the girls took a trip to Morialta Conservation Park to take one of the many hikes and see Morialta falls. Not as straightforward as we had thought, we ended up crossing a small river (still terrifying) when the path we were taking ran out. I ended the hike in true Graice fashion when I managed to slip over a wet rock when we were having a group photo (the photo explains the moment better than I could!). The next day Phoebe, Pauline, Molly and I hiked to Mt. Lofty where I’m pretty sure I almost died, I’m not a hiking person and this definitely wasn’t an enjoyable experience for me. However, the sunset at the end made the whole experience a little better.
Experienced my first outdoor cinema and foodtruck food – Molly, Chloe and I took a trip to Port Adelaide for a Halloween themed ‘Fork on the Road’, we ate amazing food and attempted to watch The Rocky Horror Show (we couldn’t hear a thing and Chloe had to narrate the whole thing).
Sunsets and sunbathing – A few evenings we have ventured to various beaches to watch the sunset into the ocean and have even managed to enjoy some very hot days at the beach (one thing I’ve learnt about this 5th season of Adelaide weather is, when its sunny, you have to enjoy it, because 9/10 the next day will be raining!).
Received some pretty ridiculous grades – my first graded assignment came back at 88% (how?!), and my second, third and fourth assignments came back as 90%, 80% and 100%. Definitely taking some pressure off of exam stress!
Sadly, started saying goodbyes! – Lots of people are off on their travels or heading home which means LOTS of goodbyes. This week Kayla left us to head back home before Thanksgiving, but not before Flat 32 all went out for a meal and Kayla’s parents ended their trip by visiting and very generously taking myself, Pauline and Phoebe out for the best food I’ve had in Adelaide. It was pretty hard saying goodbye to Kay, but made easier knowing that we have plans to meet in France & London in March!
My last few days in Adelaide will be spent trying to make some progress on my Literature Review and spending lots of time with friends before I head to Sydney to start a month of travelling the East Coast on the 19th November!
