My name is Yuan and I am film student at University of Southampton. My summer session starts from 2rd July to 12th August at University of California, Berkeley. It’s very near to San Francisco where the weather is as mild as England but without raining. Summer there is cool and comfortable in terms of the temperature. Food there is tasty, more suitable to international students as America is an immigrant country. San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is amazing, it always has many great exhibitions. Unfortunately, I didn’t have too much time to explore the city as the six-week session was quite intense. I had two modules from 9.00 am to 2.30 pm every week day and had to finish assignments after class every day. We had 3 quiz for one module, and 13 reports and 1 essay only for six-week session, nevertheless several readings. Though I was always busy at having classes and doing assignments, I was still glad at that because I’ve learn a lot film knowledge at UC Berkeley especially the history of American film. Accommodation there is way more expensive than in London or New York. So finding a private house to live is a better way though it’s pricy too. But International House dining hall serves the best food among other cafés in the campus. I recommend everyone to go there to have a brunch or a dinner. Overall, this trip was amazing, and I would 100% do it again! I’m grateful for the opportunity and will remember it forever.
