你们好,我叫李安迪

Hello my name is Andy Leach and I’m a chemistry student who is studing Mandarin Chinese (putonghua) at the Chinese university of Hong Kong (香港中文大学) for 1 month.

What I expected Hong Kong to be was a busy exciting city with lots of tall building and lots to do, this is very true with lots of restaurants and cultural activities you will never be bored in Hong Kong. There are clubs and bars where everyone drinks on the street with a very communal feel! Which is great. The food is very good here and interesting, only yesterday I found myself eating chicken feet (phenix talons) and I’m sure that won’t be the last unusual thing I eat.

What I didn’t expect to find was first hue he university campus is in the mountains with lots of tress and grass and greenery around, a side to Hong Kong I was pleased to explore further and when I did I found picturesque waterfalls and beaches which are in stark contrast to the busy developed city.

I have also visited Macau and Shenzhen both of which were very interesting for different reasons, Macau is similar to what I would expect to find in Las Vegas huge casinos but with some ruins and buildings forms the Portuguese occupation which are very interesting to see so far in the East. Shenzhen is a very new and developed area of China which I only managed to visit for the day as I am on a tight schedule here, but had many tall buildings which would also look at home in Europe and where I saw was surprisingly familiar apart from people did stare a bit, maybe they don’t see so many Europeans there?

All of this would be great, but what’s even better is the people I have met while I have been here, everybody is very much fun and very interesting, most the people are from Japan with some other Europeans and some people from the rest of the world also. They have made my time here so far a lot of fun and I’m sure it will continue!
