This week started with Kaylaâs birthday (birth-week) and an evening spent at uni taking part in the ESN quiz. Although we were acing the quiz, we left early to head back for a night out to celebrate Kaylaâs birthday, and sing to her at 12am. Thursday morning came and it was time for one of those dreadful 9am lecturesâŠupon waking up and feeling a little worse for wear, I checked my phone to realise my lecture had been cancelled (thank you angels watching over me) and I took my sleepy self back to bed! Pauline cooked us âFrench crepesâ stuffed with Nutella, banana, strawberries and a side of kiwi fruit salad for breakfast and the girls headed off for the birthday hike, whilst I headed off to uni for the rest of the day!
That evening we got all dressed up and headed to a rooftop bar nearby called 2KW, it was amazingly cool! The views of the city as the sun was setting were beautiful, and who doesnât love a bar that provides sheepskin seat covers, blankets, cushions and heaters to keep you warm?! (Yes, Itâs still kind of cold!). We then headed to Antica on Gouger st. for the best pizza I have ever tasted in my life, I donât think Iâve ever had a pizza with more toppings than dough, but I am not complainingâŠI would happily eat that pizza for the rest of my life! Despite ordering two Nutella Calzoneâs between us (we managed to destroy them!) we also managed to come back home and tuck into the ridiculous tim-tam birthday cake that Lindsey and Chloe had made for Kayla. Full of pizza and cake, I took myself off to bed and slipped into a very deep food coma.
At the weekend the girls and I decided to take a trip into North Adelaide, about a 20 minute walk from urbanest. The sole reason for this visit: St Louis, a desert parlour was opening up a new store and they were giving away free ice cream (amazing!!!!). I ordered a tim-tam slam cone (obviously I didnât consume enough tim-tams and chocolate a few days before!) and took no time to think over the offer of âdo you want your cone dipped in Nutella?â (this place was basically heaven on earth!). We then took a trip to a 24/7 bakery, of course we had to buy cakes, and so the North Adelaide food crawl continued. Â It was great to walk out of the main city and see what else is nearby, everything is so close in Adelaide city so it really doesnât take long to find new things!
On Sunday we took a 9am (to be out of bed at 9am on a Sunday should be illegal!) train to Noarlunga, just over an hour away, to take a 9-mile beach walk to Aldinga. This country never fails to amaze me, the beaches are just beautiful. Despite it taking us roughly an hour to get off the first beach (we couldâve done it in 10 minutes but weâll pretend we were taking in the amazing scenery!) we started the epic walk. 21 degrees, a little sunburn (itâs okay, its winter and its physically impossible to burn in an English winter Iâm positive, so the sunburn is justified!) and sitting in the bus layby, we made it to Aldinga (our feet were tired and we were running out of time due to the slight delay on the first beach!). We spent the rest of the afternoon in awe of Aldinga beach, and sitting in a cave in the rocks, catching the sun, minus the winter breeze!
Monday was spent watching The Great British Bake Off on campus (the internet situation here is pretty bad!) before heading to Bread & Bone for burgers with the girls. If you ever find yourself in Adelaide, I recommended heading here, itâs a little tucked away but serves delicious burgers! We returned home for Ellaâs home-made shortbread and Molly, Ella and I started planning our trip to Bali in the mid-semester break (just another perk of studying abroad!) The end to another great week down under!
WOOHOOO BALI!!!
