Hi all, I just finished my semester abroad at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. This was truly the best experience of my life and one that I will certainly never forget.

I was lucky enough to travel to Wilmington with one of my friends from University of Southampton as we had both decided to go to the same exchange Uni, this made moving in incredibly smooth and a lot less scary than if I was to have to do this on my own! When we first arrived I didn’t really know what to expect but instantly felt welcome and at home on campus. Within the first few days we had met with and soon became close friends with people from other dorms on our floor! The first day of class seemed daunting at first but everyone was incredibly friendly and willing to help! The style of classes at UNCW was very different to what I have experienced before with classes having as little as 12 people furthermore whilst more work was set weekly this was often much shorter answer questions.

The campus itself was incredible, it was spacious and clean and rarely felt over crowded, there was so much to do too from a large recreation complex to playing fields and intramural sports, I also found myself watching the football and basketball regularly! Campus was also just a 15 minute drive from the beach which in the summer was the perfect place to be!

Wilmington whilst a relatively small city had so much to do from bars and restaurants to museums and gardens!

I tried to travel as much as I could whilst I was away visiting places like Lake Tahoe, Yosemite and Universal Orlando!

Whilst I was sad to leave I have made so many memories and mad friends for life who I will definitely keep in touch with and see as often as possible!

The opportunity to study abroad is something that I would recommend to anyone and I believe UNCW is the perfect place to do this!
