First off I’ll start off by saying that this was the best trip of my life. It was an unbelievable experience and I had an amazing time! China is such an interesting and amazing country and I enjoyed every second of the trip.

If you’re wondering whether to do this trip or having cold feet – don’t hesitate to sign up and don’t pull out! You won’t regret it. Power through the paperwork and the visa stuff and it’ll be worth it!

In the two weeks, I spent my time learning about the thick culture of China and specifically Chengdu. This included days learning and practising calligraphy – which I was actually good at and enjoyed – learning and practising Chinese style of painting – which I was terrible at but also enjoyed and exploring the city centre’s array of museums and cultural gardens.

One thing everyone was excited for was the Panda Base, which was extremely cute, especially the bit with the baby pandas! And also, another highlight would be the hot pot – basically, a Chinese delicacy where you put a pot with curry in it on a hob and throw a bunch of stuff in it to cook. Stay open-minded at the hot pot and try everything, there are some odd foods there but I was pleasantly surprised by all of them, even the pig’s brain!

Overall, there isn’t much bad to say about this trip, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity and will remember it forever! And sorry to repeat myself, but if you’re considering this trip and have any doubt – drop it because you will not regret it!
